Worcester and New King took the top two spots in the $100,000 Frank Whiteley S. April 12 at Laurel Park, with Worcester getting the best of fellow Eddie Woods Training program grad New King by 1 ½-lengths.

New King was nearly three lengths clear of the rest of the field in the seven-furlong contest for 3-year-olds and upward.

Wooster was unhurried out of the gate and settled at the back of the six-horse field for the backstretch run, with New King about three lengths from the lead. Going into the turn, both horses began to advance, with New King striking the front just before turning for home. Wooster was following his stablemate and pushed by him in the final sixteenth and was drawing away at the end.

Both horses were carrying the Starlight Racing Stables colors and are trained by Brittany Russell. Wooster boosted his record to 4-51- in 13 starts and has earned $273,320. Saturday’s victory was his first stakes win.
