Good Cheer kicked off her 2025 campaign with a stellar effort in the Feb. 15 Rachel Alexandra S. (G2) at Fair Grounds, rolling home a 6 ¼-length winner to run her record to a perfect 5-for-5.

The Eddie Woods Training program graduate had a brief break following her Nov. 30 win in the Golden Rod S. (G2) and came back as good as ever in Saturday's 1 1/16-mile contest.

Facing just three foes, Good Cheer was ridden along patiently by Luis Saez as Gowells Delight set moderate fractions of :48.35 and 1:13.19. Good Cheer was boxed in behind horses coming into the stretch, but once she found an opening, she quickly accelerated and distanced herself from the field, winning under a hand ride in 1:44.12 on a fast track.

“We’re very proud of her effort to comeback like this as a 3-year-old,” said trainer Brad Cox. “Her record speaks for itself. She always shows up and runs a top effort. Today was no different. It was a short field but she still showed up to run her race. We’re very proud of her and very excited about her moving forward on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks.”

A homebred for Godolophin LLC, Good Cheer has earned $637,630. She has won her five races by a combined 38 ¾-lengths. The winner is a daughter of Wedding Toast, who earned more than $1.4 million and accounted for the Ogden Phipps S. (G1) and Beldame S. (G1) among her eight black type wins.
