Eddie Woods training program grad Jimmy P captured his first graded race in incredible fashion with a 34 1/2-length win in the Jonathan Sheppard H. (G1) on Aug. 14 at Saratoga.

Contested at 2 3/8-miles over the hurdles, Jimmy P was second in last year’s Sheppard. As is customary in marathon jump races, the pace was measured until the field was about a half-mile from the wire. Jimmy P, who sat in fourth most of the way, moved to the outside and took the lead with a swift move entering the final bend. He opened up a six-length lead in a matter of strides and widened with every step the rest of the way.

Jimmp P is owned by Madaket Stables LLC and Molly & Paul Willis. Madaket bred the six-year-old in partnership with Head of Plains Partners.
