Eddie Woods training grad Decorated Invader kept his 2020 record intact with a 1 1/4-length victory in the $150,000 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame S. (G2) on July 18 at Saratoga.
The ultra-talented 3-year-old son of Decoration of War has won five of his seven starts, including three graded stakes, and earned $453,035 for an ownership group headed by West Point Thoroughbreds.
Sent off the heavy favorite in the 1 1/8-mile turf race, Decorated Invader was a distant second behind runaway early leader Get Smokin, who was up by eight lengths after a half-mile in :48.98. Decorated Invader cut into the margin on the turn, and took the lead for good in upper stretch, finishing the distance in 1:49.29.
βHe's a top-class horse and has been since day one for me,β said trainer Christophe Clement. βI love him. I love the way he trains. I love the way he races. It's a different scenario every time we run him, but the final outcome is the same. That's what good horses do, they win.β
Decorated Invader was bred by Redmon Farm LLC in Kentucky and hails from the family of stakes winner and noted sire Stormy Atlantic and Grade One winner Bandini.
