Cornucopian’s astounding maiden special weight win Feb. 23 at Oaklawn Park earned the 3-year-old Into Mischief colt the coveted ‘TDN Rising Star’ tag as well as a rare triple-digit Beyer Speed Figure in a career debut.

The bay colt, trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, is the third TDN Rising Star of the year to graduate from the Eddie Woods Training program [WATCH RACE].

Cornucopian rewarded his backers and high-profile connections with a stellar effort in the six-furlong affair. He rocketed out of the gate and led the field through a lightning-quick quarter-mile of :21.86. Oil Capital got within a head of the lead after a half-mile in :45.50, when Cornucopian easily shook clear and flew through the stretch to win by 5 ¾-lengths in 1:09.02 on a fast track.

Cornucopian’s 101 Beyer Speed Figure is the third-highest for any 3-year-old this year. The colt sold to his owners SF Racing LLC, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables LLC, Stonestreet Stables LLC, Dianne Bashor, Determined Stables, Robert E. Masterson, Tom J. Ryan, Waves Edge Capital LLC and Catherine Donovan at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Bred by Three Chimney’s Farm LLC and Whisper Hill Farm LLC, Cornucopian is out of the top producer Magical World, also the dam of three-time Grade 1 winner Guarana, Grade 3 winner Beatbox, and stakes winner Magic Dance. His second dam Pleasant Home won the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1). This is also the family of the incomparable Sky Beauty, winner of nine Grade 1 races.
