Eddie Woods Training grad Coppola earned his third career stakes win in the $100,000 William Garrett H. July 5 at Horseshoe Indianapolis, rolling to a six-length victory in the five-furlong dash.
The Garrett was moved to the main track after rains necessitated the switch from the turf. Coppola’s last main track start was last November at Churchill Downs, a race he won as well.
Sent away as the heavy favorite on Friday, Coppola coasted along in second until midway on the turn, when he effortlessly took the lead. Under a hand ride the rest of the way, he widened in the stretch to finish in :56.46 over the sloppy going.
The winner is owned by Hammer Time Stable and S.O.K. Racing. His lifetime record stands at 8-1-1 from 22 starts, with earnings of $620,058. Bred by Fifth Avenue Bloodstock in Kentucky, Coppola originally sold for $800,000 the 2020 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Select Yearlings sale.
