Eddie Woods training grad Anaylze It had been away from the races for nearly two year, but picked up right where he left off with a 1 3/4-length score in the $150,000 Red Bank S. (G3) Sept. 5 at Monmouth Park.
Owned by William H. Lawrence, Analyze It started his career in late 2017 and reeled off three straight wins, including a pair of graded stakes. An unlucky second in two Grade 1's in mid-2018, he went to the sidelines after finishing third in that year's Breeders' Cup Mile (G1).
Training at Saratoga in preparation for his return, he sat comfortably off the pace until Joe Bravo asked him for his run coming into the stretch. After responding willingly, he flew to the front to stop the clock in 1:35.54 on the firm turf.
“We weren't concerned about the layoff the way he has been working to come back for this,” said Luis Cabrera, assistant to winning trainer Chad Brown. “He has been working very good for this, so we had high expectations. I was comfortable the way Joe saved ground along the rail early. That's what you want. Joe knows what to do. This is a good horse. I would say after this that he is back. 1:35 and change is impressive. Going forward now, that's Chad's decision.”
Analyze It upped his record to 4-3-1 in nine starts and has earned $849,400.
