Eddie Woods training program grad American Admiral earned his first stakes win Nov. 17 at Pleasanton Racetrack in California with a hard-fought victory in the $75,000 Mt. Diablo S.

Trained by Tim Yakteen for Donnie Crevier, American Admiral won the 1 1/16-mile contest by a half-length over Lammas. He sat a few lengths off the early pace before launching his bid on the final turn. After dueling with Lammas in the upper stretch, American Admiral edged clear late to secure the win.

Six-year-old American Admiral is now 4-8-2 in 23 starts and has earned $304,020. The bay son of American Pharoah was bred by Dixiana Farms LLC and hails from the same family as multiple graded stakes winners Twining and Aquilegia.
